Shopping Tip Alert
You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal on cereal than Sam's Club.
I'm trying to reduce the sodium in my diet and get a little more heart healthy, so when in Sam's today I picked up a "2 pack" of Cheerios. It was almost a "2 pack" of Honey Nut Cheerios until I read the label and its 12 grams of sugar per serving vs. just 2 grams for regular Cheerios.
And about that serving size... One cup? Who eats just a cup of cereal?! A regular size bowl, the typical vessel used to enjoy cereal holds about 2-1/2 to 3 cups of cereal and so unless you're the kind of person that goes to a paint store because you heard you could get thinner... You're filling that bowl with cereal right up to the point where pouring in enough milk won't cause an overflow...
And did you see what I did there... Paint store... Thinner...
C'mon, that was funny...
So anyway, Sam's Club has a nice selection of cereals and great prices. I picked up the "2 pack" of Cheerios for just $5.58. And the boxes are large, each containing 1 pound, 4.35 ounces of toasted oats goodness. That breaks down to just 11.5¢ per ounce! I challenge you to find Cheerios that cheap at Kroger, HyVee, Albertsons, Food Lion, etc., each of those outlets averaging about $4.99 for a single, 20 ounce box. You'll find that most of the Cereals carried by Sam's Club are cheaper in price than those sold by the mainstream grocery stores.
I'm giving Sam's Club 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars for their cereal selection and great prices.
$pend Wisely My Friends...
