Food Review: Taco Bell's Mexican Pizza
05/20/2022

It's back by customer petition demand! More than 200,000 Taco Bell fans pushed back when the chain dropped the Mexican Pizza from its menu back in November 2020 and as a result of a Change.org petition, it's back on the menu nationwide effective May 19, 2022.
Clearly a fan favorite, I was out-and-about running some errands today giving me an opportunity to pick one up and check it out. I've never had one of these things before and so didn't become a fan of something not ever eaten... So since hearing the "It's going back on the menu" announcement, I've been on a mission to see what makes this thing petition worthy.
Here's the description from the Taco Bell website: Seasoned beef and refried beans between two Mexican Pizza shells with Mexican Pizza sauce, three-cheese blend, and tomatoes on top.
In opening the lid and expecting typical fast food sloppy meal prep, I was pleasantly surprised. It looked pretty good and yes, it looked pizza-ish. In taking that first bite, I nodded my head in approval. The shells delivered a nice crunch, the cheese was melted nicely and the tomatoes added a nice freshness, balancing out the classic combo of Taco Bell seasoned beef and refried beans. It's aptly named, layers of Mexican flavors that eats like a pizza.
It's a messy eat and you can make it even messier by ordering additional items for your pizza. Options such as lettuce, chopped onion, jalapeno peppers, black beans and more are available to add on, as are a number of sauces like nacho cheese, chipotle and quacamole. I didn't order any add ons, as I wanted to sample the Mexican Pizza in its basic form.
Available for $4.49, I'm giving the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza 4 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars , it's a good fast food eat, a satisfying eat and it's worthy of a repeat buy. Next time I get one, I will however order some add ons, making it more like a taco pizza, which is the beauty after all, of this fan favorite.
