Food Review: Nature's Garden Trail Mix Snack Packs

By Mike Thayer

Nature's Garden Omega-3 Deluxe Mix
Tasty, healthy, very convenient snack

Trail Mix is a very popular snack, it's tasty, you can take it with you and eat it just about anywhere and with so many varieties of trail mix out there, you can easily find a blend or two, OK, three, etc., to your liking.  That's another benefit to trail mix snacks, the flavor combinations are almost endless!

Not all trail mixes are healthy however, with some containing a lot of added sugars, syrups or candies.

Enter Nature's Garden.

Nature's Garden Trail Mix snacks focus on nuts, seeds and dried fruit.  With their heart healthy varieties, there are no candies, no sodium, no cholesterol.

I'm on the go a lot from day-to-day and I don't always eat right.  A friend of mine suggested a smarter snack choice to help me out with my schedule and diet by giving me some Nature's Garden Trail Mix Snack Packs to try.

Nature's Garden Omega-3 Deluxe Mix
This mix packs some flavor punch!

Receiving two varieties, I looked forward to sampling a much smarter snack choice.

The first one I tried was Nature's Garden Omega-3 Deluxe Mix, which is a blend of cranberries, walnuts, almonds, pecans and pistachios.  I'm a big fan of pistachios and with cranberries being my favorite in a dried fruit, this snack was instantly a winner.  It's well balanced with dried fruit to nuts and the portions of nuts is thoughtfully dispensed by Nature's Garden.

Nature's Garden Cranberry Health Mix
A super mix of dried fruits, nuts & seeds

The second variety I tried was Nature's Garden Cranberry Health Mix which is a blend of cranberries, black raisins, golden raisins, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, pepitas and sunflower seeds.  This variety has more dried fruit which I appreciate and I have to be honest here, I had to look up what pepitas were.  They look like pumpkin seeds and they're related, but pepitas come from hull-less pumpkin varieties making them less fibrous and more tender.

Both of these snack packs are tasty and really hit the spot, especially when in need of a quick snack while on the go.  But of the two varieties of Nature's Garden Trail Mix Snack Packs I tried, I have to say I preferred the Omega-3 Deluxe Mix, with the dried cranberries and pistachios putting it over the top.  I'm giving both 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars, they're a great snack, a very portable snack and a reasonably priced snack, worthy of a repeat buy!
