Burger King Fish Sandwich sucked in 2018, it still sucks in 2022

Eating fish sandwiches on a daily basis for lunch and dinner... You know I'm doing this Challenge in the name of 'Food Science' (cough), right? I'm eating through the bad and average sandwiches so you don't have to...
In 2018 I reviewed the fish sandwiches from national fast food chains but I figured it's time for a fish sandwich update. I'll be reviewing all those restaurants again, as there's been some changes, some 'new and improved' sandwiches as well as new offerings. But for this 2022 review, along with the fast food joints I'll be including fast casual chains as well as the local restaurants, making it a "Who makes the best fish sandwich in Wichita?" Challenge!
Burger King finished last in the Fish Sandwich Challenge of 2018, taking 9th place out of 9 fast food restaurants reviewed. To sum, their fish sandwich sucked.
They've made no effort whatsoever to improve their fish sandwich in four years. Here's the description from the Burger King website from four years ago: Big Fish Sandwich... A delicious golden-crisp catch..... Our premium Big Fish Sandwich is 100% White Alaskan Pollock, breaded with crispy panko breading and topped with sweet tartar sauce, tangy pickles, all on top of a toasted brioche-style bun.
Here's how the BK fish sandwich is touted on the website today: Our premium Big Fish Sandwich is 100% White Alaskan Pollock, breaded with crispy panko breading and topped with sweet tartar sauce, tangy pickles, all on top of a toasted brioche-style bun.
And their fish sandwich still sucks. It hasn't changed! I can only conclude that after four years of declining sales, a drop as a result from being the #2 burger chain to #3 that corporate only cares about generating a few bucks from the Lent season fish crowd when it comes to having a fish sandwich on their menu. Burger King has made no effort to make this a better sandwich than what the competition puts out. Four years, and you don't work to improve, you don't do what it takes to be better than the competition?
Oh my...
Well, despite Burger King not wanting to update their fish sandwich, I will update my review of said sandwich... It's a processed fish product, a square 'fillet' that is to say again processed, pressed and shaped rather than being a true fillet cut from a fish. It doesn't measure up to a real fish fillet sandwich. The sandwich, even when fresh out of the fryer while perhaps crunchy on the outside, is mushy fish on the inside rather than flaky. The thin fillet means a below average fish to bun ratio and it's a sad statement when the brioche bun, pickles and tartar are the best parts of the sandwich.
Scoring 44 out of a possible 63 points and costing me $5.26 for just the sandwich, I'm giving the Burger King Fish Sandwich 3 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars. It is not reasonably priced compared to the prices of other fast food joints and it just flat out isn't as good of a sandwich. Just as it was in 2018, it is NOT worthy of being a repeat buy in 2022.

The Burger King visited on this occasion is located at: 4220 E Harry St, Wichita, KS 67218. The service was polite and fast. Hitting the drive thru at about 11am, I received my meal lickity split, in less than 3 minutes, making me wonder if my sandwich was made to order.
