Wine Review: Suburban Fracas Reprobate

By Mike Thayer

Wine Shop at Home AwardsI recently joined a wine club and I'm digging it!   Thank you Lori!  Shopping online at my leisure in the comfort of my own home, discovering new and exclusive wines and having them shipped directly to my door = Happiness in Every Sip.  I borrowed that line from WineShop at Home, the club I joined, it's a true statement.

WineShop At Home, founded in 2005, is headquartered in the legendary Napa Valley. The winery, owned by the Fredrick family of Dallas, Texas, produces award-winning, exclusive, artisan wines across 50 brands.  Their wines have won over 200 awards in national and international wine competions!  And they've got everything to please any wine preference, choose from sweet and bubbly to dry and crisp whites, smooth and supple to bold and intense reds.   WineShop at Home features artisan wines for every occasion, palate and personality.

In my monthly shipment I get four bottles of fantastic wine - I've NEVER been disappointed -  two whites and two reds and my last shipment included a red called "Surburban Fracas Reporbate" here's the description from the WineShop at Home website:

Surburban Fracas ReprobateOur Suburban Fracas Reprobate red blend of 35% Zinfandel, 21% Cabernet Franc, 20% Tannat, 12% Barbera, 5% Ruby Cabernet, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Syrah displays a massive nose of blueberry, blackberry and cherry.

This is a young, inviting red wine. Some of these characters are also displayed in the mouth. However, the dominant factor is the tannins. Layers of tannins develop nicely in the mouth. All seven varietals comprised in this blend are known for bringing color and body to wine. The mid-palate and finish provide some relief with the presence of residual sugar. Later, we have light toasted oak notes in the finish.

This wine is very dynamic and will pair well with a wide range of dishes like grilled steak, pork carnitas tacos or crispy potato cakes with Cheddar and scallions.

This wine is yet another example of what puts WineShop at Home over the top and a big notch above their competitors - THEIR WINE BLENDS ROCK!  The wine maker, Alexandre Reble, knows how to blend grapes like no other! He truly is a master and his wine creations in my humble opinion are second to none.  I've been a Wine Club member with WineShop for several months now, and I have NOT had a bottle of wine I wouldn't re-order.  My girlfriend and I enjoyed this fantastic red blend with the suggested pork carnitas tacos and it was STELLAR!

Palate pleasing, the Surburban Fracas Reprobate is another MUST TRY from WineShop at Home and I'm giving it 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars.

Wine Review: Fact Chardonnay

In my monthly shipment I get four bottles of fantastic wine - I've NEVER been disappointed -  two whites and two reds and my last shipment included a Chardonnay called "Fact" here's the description from the WineShop at Home website:

Fact ChardonnayOur Fact 2017 Chardonnay offers fragrant aromatics of pear, apple and lemon in the attack.

Oak characters, notes of brown sugar and cider follow. This is quite a display for this Californian Chardonnay. These characteristics also appear in the mouth, making it very luscious and full. This wine is round with a hint of minerality. It is very smooth and compact in the mid-palate and the oak flavors caress the palate all the way to the finish.

Serve it chilled at around 50° Fahrenheit with creamy pasta, rice dishes, seafood, grilled fish or a cheese platter.

That description is spot on!  A good Chardonnay delivers on all those aromatic and flavor notes and what Fact has bottled deserves to be on your table. My girlfriend and I enjoyed this wine with some tasty shrimp and coconut rice, an excellent pairing!  WineShop at Home has a true knack for blending grapes and crafting wines with fantastic, intense flavors!
